Signed up in January for the combined science and exam package and passed my exam last week. I studied for 2 hours every day and the recorded webinars were very helpful. I definitely would not have passed without watching these. It was also useful to have the test booklets for each topic. Really happy with the service provided by A Star Equivalency.

Not studied for many years, I was extremely nervous but had to do it. A star helped me from beginning to end, were always polite and helped me pass my 1st time.
The exam is NOT easy, it’s not meant to be easy, it’s meant to show you have the equivalent of a GCSE understanding, so studying is essential. I highly recommend splashing the extra ££ and getting the A* course material.

A Star are amazing! I bought the course and exam because I felt it was more beneficial to me. The webinars I found very helpful and if I had a question, it was answered quickly by a member of the team. Cannot fault them and would recommend them to anyone.
Passed combined science on my second attempt. Only a couple of issues: one that I had a sickness bug on the day of the exam and would have had to pay a cancellation charge to cancel it and then pay for the exam again. Failed by 5 marks which wasn’t surprising. Secondly, there were at least five questions that were not in the revision pack I bought that were included in the exam. To be fair, I think this was due to them updating the revision packs and exams (I bought mine in September last year). I think I would have been an issue had I not passed second time around but luckily I did, and with a good margin.
This is my second exam with A Star and I can’t fault the process. Booking is easy and there are lots of dates and times available and at short notice. Would recommend.
Hello, Thank you for your review. I am sorry you were ill on the day of your exam. Unfortunately, as the exam had been scheduled with an invigilator it would not be possible to rearrange the exam without incurring a cost.
All of the questions in the exam papers are new questions which will not have appeared in the course, however, the topics covered and the skills needed to answer the questions correctly are all covered in the course. It would not be a true exam if the same questions also appeared in the course, unfortunately.

I have sat three exams with AStar (Maths, English and Biology) and they have all been successful. Everyone I have spoken too has been really supportive and they have responded very quickly to any queries I had. The invigilators have all been very through but without making me feel uneasy, they also explained everything very clearly. Really pleased with the overall service and wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

I never studied in school and found English boring but obviously realised how essential it is for everything. I had to choose a provider for equivalency testing and glad I came to this site. They have been really helpful.

I have taken & passed the English Language exam. Model answers and the mock exam papers were really helpful and I was able to revise in depth. Although, if I should point it out, model answers are exclusive to the final question 6 and for the rest of the questions there is just a guideline as to how to write the best answer possible as indicated in mark scheme. There isn’t much point for me now as I got the grade I need for application to UCL, which is what I’m happy about, but it would help a lot for future students if there were ‘full length’ model answers for the rest of the questions 2, 3, 4, 5 and not just partial answers in mark scheme – except question 1 of course since that is a multiple choice question.

The maths test was a little tricky but got there in the end with some perseverance and a few late night revision sessions
Wanted to go into teaching and this was my last barrier which I had to overcome. Managed to do it and going into primary shorlty. I am so excited 🙂

The maths equivalency test was a daunting prospect to say the least but managed to get through it by the skin on my teeth. A pass is a pass and that is all that matters

Great support and helped me to gain a lot of confidence in my maths leading into my PGCE
I have been with A Star for a couple of years because I either did not pass the first time around or I needed to rearrange my exam dates. I have purchased the maths and combined science courses which includes everything you need from learning materials, online tutorials to past exam papers. The staff, whether it be over the phone, Web chat and online invigilators, have all been super supportive and reassuring, when I felt stressed, panicked or when unexpected things happened in life. Learning online has worked for me with the flexibility to work around a full time job and family life. For me personally, it has been hard work but with my determination and resilience I’m hoping this year is the one for me!

Really happy with the course study information and practice papers. It was a great help in achieving my exam pass.
No issues
I tried the different equivalency testing services and didn’t hear back from the other one for over a week. I messaged these on a Saturday and they got back to me the same day. I booked my exam and prepared in my own time and passed with certificate back all within a few weeks. All exams should be set up like this to make it easier for people to access
The chem bit is hardet in my opinion or maybe that I am just not as good at it but took a while for the info to sink in. Got there in the end
Thank you A Star for creating the resources which are so easy to use. As a student you just need time and dedication. I found the examiners so calm and respectful, shout out to Jess! Thank you. The whole experience is there to give you the opportunity to reach your goals required for your career progression. From the booking system to the certificate, I couldn’t have asked for a more simpler way to get things organised. The whole exam process online is straight forward, no worries of travel etc. As a student you just need to try to stay calm, study and then give it a go. I read many reviews that helped me too. Hope this helps someone. I used the other testing service but it wasn’t for me.Thanks A star – you are my A star!
I am very happy and satisfied with the service provided to me by A Star. This was my first online exam and I was bit nervous about it but the invigilator carried out the instructions well and it felt like a piece of cake.

Didn’t do my qualifications in the UK and needed this to get accepted into a PGCE. It was relatively easy and everything was good in terms of support and assistance with booking and taking the exam
