Very good and the experience was smooth! I was skeptical but got accepted into the university I wanted and now doing the course I wanted! I would recommend.
4 stars because everything is money and it costs £29.99 for the paper certificate when realistically it should have been free since the test costs £229 on a cheap day!

I had applied to my teacher training quite late in the year and ended up having three weeks to get myself prepared for the combined science exam and pass in time to enrol this year. I can’t thank A Star enough for their resources online – the mocks were great preparation and I went into the exam feeling very confident. I ended up not only just passing but doing better than I had performed in the mocks. Thanks so much!

The tutoring on the biology videos was excellent – clear and interesting and it is because of the outstanding teaching that I was able to gain grade 9 in the exam. So, I would like to say a very big thank you to the tutor. The course requires a real commitment from you and it took a year for me to complete – there are no short cuts – I learnt so much and really enjoyed the subject. During my year I had a few queries about the exam, the course itself and the admin side of things and found the admin lady I dealt with to be very professional and prompt in sorting out and responding to the queries I had. I can highly recommend A Star Equivalency.
The course was set out in a user friendly way! Everything you need is in the course. The mix of reading, videos, tutorials and tests is amazing for learning. Great customer service really helped when I had questions about my exam. Great service.

I’ve wanted to become a teacher for several years. I hold a PhD in my subject area and have worked as a tutor, but I could never bring myself to apply for teacher training because of the requirement to have a GCSE grade C (4) or above in maths. Maths has always been a struggle for me. I tried, at one point, to teach myself using books and BBC Bitesize, but it quickly became overwhelming.
The Maths Foundation course was exactly what I needed. It’s comprehensive and well-structured, you can clearly track your progress through the course, and there are plenty of practice questions, mock exams, and detailed explanations for every question, both in video and written format. The course is self-paced, clear, and thorough, without assuming a certain level of proficiency or fluency, unlike other equivalency testing providers I looked into. Everything you need is built into the course. I would absolutely recommend it.

My experience with A Star Equivalency was a mix of positives and areas for improvement. I purchased the course and booked my English GCSE Equivalency exam in a hurry as it was a compulsory requirement for my PGCE. The booking process was smooth and straightforward, though I found it quite expensive. The course material was well-structured and the website easy to navigate. The content was designed professionally and, if followed thoroughly and with patience, it effectively prepares you for the exam—as it did for me. I was genuinely pleased with my result, and I credit A Star Equivalency for that. However, I do feel that the exam process could be improved. On the day of the exam, I wasn’t given clear instructions on how to check the remaining time, and the platform had no visible timer. This caused unnecessary stress. Additionally, I was not made aware at the time of booking that choosing a paper-based exam would require an upgrade fee. This information should have been made clear beforehand. During the exam, I was unexpectedly locked out twice—once while attempting to move the camera window which was obstructing my view, and the second time when I tried to ask about the time remaining. These issues could have been avoided if clearer guidance had been provided before the exam began.
Overall, while the course itself was excellent and helped me achieve the result I needed, I believe the exam experience would benefit greatly from clearer communication and better preparation guidance for candidates.
I had problems with my laptop on the day of my assessment, your team did try to assist, but in the end I had to pay to sit my GCSE Math on another day, which involved an additional fee.
I failed my previous GCSE Combined Science with 1 mark grade D 15 years ago. Did my nursing, but wanted a change of profession, don’t get me wrong as I losearched online and saw A Star Equivalency
I am fully satisfied with the service and support provided and would recommend Astar!

It was a smooth and easy process. Maths is not my strongest subject and i needed this exam to be able to apply for a training course. After so many years without exams the course and the materials given were a huge help.
I would definitely recommend A Star to anyone needing to complete their GCSE equivalency exams.

I am fully satisfied with a star. They have a qualified staff whenever I need any help they answered my query quickly and the course material for English is also very helpful. I would recommend after taking help from the course you should also watch walkthrough video on YouTube as they are also very helpful.The exam was very smooth, the invigilator was well qualified and the instructions were clear.
I recently took the GCSE exam through A Star Equivalency and would like to share my experience. Overall, the process was smooth and well-organized. I thoroughly enjoyed the Biology course! I originally started with the Combined Science but I have always found Physics difficult. I revised for this for 4 months and came out with a level 6! Super happy. Now I can continue with my PGCE postgraduate course this September.
Astar equivalency is simply the best. They are really into delivering high customer service satisfaction to their clients. The English course package is expertly designed to make the student have a depth of understanding of the areas to be examined, so they could pass their exams. It was really helpful to me.

I highly recommend the A Star English Language course and exam. As a non-native English speaker, I was able to pass my English equivalency test on the first attempt, and I found the course extremely beneficial.
To prepare, I first studied all the relevant materials from BBC Bitesize and a GCSE English Language book, taking detailed notes. Then I watched and read all the resources available on the A Star course platform. The course helped me revise and complete my understanding of the subject. The mock exams provided were very similar to the actual test, which helped build my confidence.
In terms of customer service, A Star is excellent. Their website offers an online chat feature, and they are also responsive via email. Whenever I had a question, I received helpful and timely responses.
Overall, I’m very happy with my experience. I passed the test on my first attempt, and I truly appreciate the support from A Star. I highly recommend it again!
I’m really pleased with the service provided by A Star Equivalency. The course is structured in such a clear and supportive way that, with hard work and dedication, passing the exam is absolutely achievable.
The step-by-step guidance throughout the 100-hour English Language coursework helped me build my confidence gradually. The mock exams were especially useful in preparing me for the real test. I also chose the fast-track option, which eliminated the stress of waiting for results — highly recommended!

Day of the results was super stressful as I had to wait till the evening to find out the results. I had to email the company to find out my results were available on the website, despite not received an email confirmation. My email came through at 7pm!
– For further improvement, in view of test-takers, I would suggest an addition of print-out option of the sources A and B in English Equivalency test; it enables ease and irritating-free setup when you are writing answers on papers and seeing continuously on screen, and furthermore, constantly saving by left and right or adjust the borders of the sources and the inserts. Thanks.

The service was superb. All the admin staff were very friendly throughout the whole process. The online self-learning through A STAR was very convenient and it feels just like real exam. I was reminded regularly to make sure I’m on the right track. I would like to recommend A STAR to everyone who needs their GCSE equivalency test done.
It’s a good course to take. It provides plenty of information about the text and what is expected. However, as you go through the units, I recommend that the practice questions be more like the real text (to provide the expected level). If time were left, I would have liked to go back to my questions during the practice tests to review them. But overall, it is a good provider.

The GCSE English Equivalency learning portal is helpful with mock paper practises. All mock papers are marked and feedback immediately without any delay. It has no obstacles in learning and knowing the exam format from inside out. It is very convenient and make things easier for revision. Booking the exam is also easy and convenient too! The online exam is economical with no travelling needed to the exam centre. The invigilator is also friendly and helpful during exam time. All-in-all are tailored for the purpose of passing the GCSE equivalency test.
It was a very straight forward and effortless experience. I would definitely recommend A star Equivalency.
Very convenient as the exam can be taken online. After you’ve received your result, however, you need to request a certificate separately and wait for it. That doesn’t take long, but I think it would be more convenient if the certificate was automatically sent to the person along with the exam result via email. Other than that, everything’s great — no delays and no technical issues at all.
I recently took the GCSE Math Equivalency Foundation Paper through A Star Equivalency and found it to be a smooth and well-conducted experience. The exam was straightforward, the invigilators were supportive, and the entire process was convenient, making it a positive experience overall.

So let’s start off by saying don’t give up! I passed on my third attempt. Yes THREE times I sat this exam. Three times I paid a lump sum of over £200 per exam. I always paid for fast track and there was one occasion that I needed to change the date of exam so that ended up costing me another £60 on top of it. HOWEVER, I made it through! I didn’t pay for the course with all the resources as I already had access to a Maths textbook that I got from another member of staff from school (that was a gods sent, to say the least!). At this present moment I feel so relieved it’s over. The exam set up its self was very relaxed, very organised and very planned out. Every invigilator was very professional and made me feel at ease. I would highly recommend using A star equivalency as somewhere to sit your exam. I’m over the moon it’s done and dusted and thankful I won’t have to sit another maths exam again but despite that this has been a pleasant experience as whole. Goodluck with your exams! As I said in the beginning, don’t give up! You will get there!
