This 2022 GCSE results day has left a good portion of students needing to perform GCSE Resits in Maths and English. Students that did not receive passes in GCSE Maths and English language are told to consider resitting or an alternative approach, which would be the Functional Skills Level 2 Qualification.

At A Star Equivalency we have an extremely high pass percentage so we don’t normally resit our own GCSE students. On the other hand we have first hand experience dealing with students fresh from school that were less than happy with their results. Depending on their personal circumstances we can help guide them to the best of our abilities. Universities, Employers and Apprenticeships all accept Functional Skills Maths and English as GCSE alternatives and they are often preferred. Certain courses do need students with above a level 4 so for these students a GCSE Resit is the only option. These links below will take you to a GCSE resit booking.

If a level 4 is all that you are after then the Functional Skills Level 2 is what you should strive to achieve. The advantages of the Level 2 Functional Skills exam over the GCSE Resits are as follows.

  1. You can take them all year round
  2. Results take 2 weeks rather than 2 months
  3. You can take exams from home
  4. There is much less content in the level 2 qualifications

Whether you need help revising or resitting the GCSE exams for either maths or english A Star Equivalency will be there by your side.
