Functional Skills Level 2
The Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications are the perfect solution for those who did not achieve at least a Grade C/Level 4 in their Maths and English GCSEs. This equivalent qualification is Ofqual approved, which is the highest form of regulation in the country. This qualification is particularly useful for those who did not pass their GCSEs but wish to study at university or progress in their careers. Many employers, universities, and apprenticeships recognise and accept a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification. Moreover, if you received your qualifications overseas, it may not be applicable in the UK; therefore, you may need a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification.
Functional Skills courses and exams are a great alternative to GCSEs; some students have found it more applicable to real life and easier to understand than GCSE exams. The Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2 qualification aims to improve your practical skills to assist you in your daily life; whereas, the concepts and ideas in GCSE’s are more abstract. Learners from any background can obtain this qualification, any time in the year. Unlike GCSEs, where there are only two examination periods (May and November,) Functional Skills caters to your educational and carer goals. They are highly flexible as you can revise at your own leisure and take the exam at any point in the year.
Some courses are government-funded, and if you meet the criteria, you can access them for free. The criteria includes being in full-time education and aged 19 and below. While there are not as many adult funded routes, there are still some, such as apprenticeship programmes. However, if you are not eligible for these, you will have to fund the qualification yourself. A Star Equivalency recommends that students use Pass Functional Skills’ services. They are an experienced and reliable provider, offering the cheapest Online Functional Skills Level 2 courses and exams.
