Covid – 19 Exam Arrangements
If your equivalency exam booking is affected by a lockdown the following arrangements are in place. At no further cost, as soon as the lockdown is lifted, we will be immediately running continuous exam slots throughout every day to ensure all candidates can sit their exam ASAP.
This will involve an alternative venue with only a handful examinees for each exam slot and will rigidly adhere to government social distancing measures. We will be keeping you informed of the details of these arrangements by email to the address you registered when you booked exam.
We can also further offer to freeze your exam booking give you a free “You Choose When” date.
This will give the flexibility of holding your exam over and selecting your own preferred date and time to sit the exam immediately or any time after the/a lockdown.
Note: If you have a supportive school it is also possible to sit the exam in your school. For more details please see our ” You Choose Where” Option.
NB We also offer additional extra flexibility in Practice English equivalency exam dates with the “You Choose When” option.

What is in the Mock / Practice GCSE English equivalency exam?
The MOCK GCSE English equivalency exam is a 2 hr English Language equivalency exam, bench marked with the past Higher AQA 80-mark examination. It is an unseen non-fiction paper. Examples of unseen non -fiction could be a newspaper or magazine article, information leaflet, advertisement, review, letter or a diary that you haven’t seen before.
You need at least 44 marks or 55 percent to achieve the minimum required grade of C/4 (refer to English equivalency exam preparation page for more details)

Please be advised that the Mock/ Practice English equivalency exam paper remains the property of A*Star Equivalency Testing. Candidates are not permitted to take their exam paper, pictures or photocopies of the paper. And as such by agreeing to our terms and conditions you agree to the above. All candidates must arrive by 5.30 pm to the exam centre. Photo ID is required prior to entering the English equivalency exam room.
