Welcome to the A Star Equivalency page, where you can find the information you need to know about your functional skills qualifications. Here at A Star Equivalency, we have a dedicated team that can help students of all ages book their exams. Furthermore, our team can give you the support needed to help you achieve your qualifications! The Functional Skills Maths Level 2 Exam is a crucial part of gaining your Level 2 Maths qualification. It is equivalent to a GCSE Grade C/Level 4, and many employers and universities will accept a Functional Skills qualification if you do not have the GCSE.

The Functional Skills Maths Level 2 Exam is divided into two parts. The non-calculator (30-minutes) component and the calculator (1-Hour 30-Minutes) component. The calculator portion of the exam is worth more marks overall, and you will be provided with an on-screen calculator if you do not have your own. All exam papers vary in content, and the material covered can range from percentages to probability. The main topics areas included across all the exams are:

  • Common Measures
  • Using Numbers
  • Handling Information and Data
  • Shapes and Space

City & Guilds and Pearson (Edexcel) are popular exam boards that provide Functional Skills Level 2 Exams. You will need to book through an exam centre – you can do this easily online. Sadly, most exam centres only offer students one exam board – at A Star Equivalency, we provide a number of exam boards. There are some differences between each exam board, for example, the speed of your results, the speed of booking your exam, the exam date availability, and the exam set-up. Having a range of options will allow you to choose the exam board that best suits your needs! Despite these differences, all the exam boards follow the same government-set curriculum. Therefore, no one is more important than the other.

Here at A Star Equivalency, we can provide you access to tutoring sessions and revision materials. Additionally, we can help you with the booking process!
