A Star Equivalency Test Instructions
Before you sit your exam you must read and understand these instructions to ensure you are fully prepared. If you are found to not be compliant with these instructions your exam may be cancelled and you will be charged a rearrangement fee.
You will be sent an email 15-30 minutes before the start of your exam containing an invite to join the video call. This will be a link to a Google Meet video call. It is very important that you check all of your email folders for this invite, as the email may appear in your spam/junk folder.
You will join the Google Meet video call and will be required to show a hard copy of your photographic ID.
Once all of the pre-exam checks have been completed, your invigilator will send you a link to the exam system. Please be patient while waiting for the link to the exam system to be sent. You will always be given your full exam time, even if it takes a little while to do the pre-exam checks.

- Your internet must be strong enough to support a Google Meet video call and screen sharing. We recommend a speed of at least 10mbps download and 1mbps upload, however, consistency of connection is also important. Please test this before your exam date. You can test your internet speed by clicking here.
- You must have a webcam and microphone. These must be tested and confirmed to be working.
- You will require a scientific calculator for Maths, Science and Biology exams. Please make sure this is working for the day of your exam.
- No exam will go ahead without the invigilator seeing a hard copy of your photographic ID. This can include:
- Valid passport (any nationality)
- Signed UK photocard driving license
- Valid warrant card issued by HM Forces or the Police
- Another photographic ID card
- On the day of the exam, you will need to position yourself in a quiet room. Nobody will be allowed into the room during the exam, and you will not be allowed to leave for the duration of the exam. Exam conditions need to be maintained.
- The invigilator will inform you when it is time to begin the exam. If you would like to request how long is left then you can do so verbally, or by using the online chat. The invigilator will provide a 10 minute warning before the end of your exam.
- After your exam has been submitted to the exam software, you understand that you must not end the call until the invigilator tells you it is okay to do so. The invigilator will ask you to rip up any exam material. This could be rough notes or handwritten exam answers. All written exam content must be destroyed and disposed of before leaving the video call.
